If you have never tried to shoot a bow but like the idea, there are a number of ways to try it out. We do run occasional Have-a-go sessions but by far the best way to learn is through a structured beginners course.
Our beginners courses are built around an approved Archery GB framework with full insurance and all equipment provided. The course is delivered by qualified coaches.
Archery is an inclusive sport open to people of all backgrounds and abilities There is no upper age limit and people shoot well into their seventies and beyond. We do, however, have some restrictions on children and normally consider those from thirteen (13) years of age onwards, however we will consider younger children on an individual basis.
During the summer months the course will generally be delivered outdoors at our range at Hickleton, weather permitting.
At successfully completing your course you will be presented with a certificate that will then allow you, if you choose, to apply for membership of DVAC or other club of your choice.
Having completed your beginners course, and because Dearne Valley Archery Club is known nationally as a Field Archery club, you will be given the opportunity to visit our Field Archery range and experience field archery. You will be guided through the differences between target and field archery and will then be able to shoot some of the course, under close supervision.
